More About EMDR
Sometimes the experiences we've had can lead us to believe...
I am not good enough I am weak
I am powerless I am worthless
I am unlovable I am a failure
I am unsafe I am responsible
Then underneath:
EMDR helps us work with what is underneath the belief
Rather than simply telling yourself to “think positively,” EMDR helps you process the experiences connected to these beliefs so that they can become less emotionally charged and feel more like something that happened then, rather than something that is still happening now.
Over time, a negative cognition such as:
“I am unlovable.”
→ “I am worthy of love.”“I am responsible.”
→ “It wasn't my fault.”“I am unsafe.”
→ “I am safe now.”“I am not good enough.”
→ “I am enough.”Healing isn't about changing what happened. It's about changing the way what happened continues to affect you.
Healing isn't about changing what happened. It's about changing the way what happened continues to affect you.
